As we settle into the new year, it is clear that a turn of the calendar can not simply erase the challenges we have been faced with. Frustrating, I know. It has been stop-and-go progress for so long now that it feels a lot like Groundhog Day. But being an optimist, I feel if we can push through this last bit of adversity that we are close to getting through the turbulence. Either way, we all deserve a collective pat on the back (and then some) for our efforts thus far.
 
Let’s jump right into what we might expect from the Real Estate market in 2022! There is little denying that the early part of the year will be heated. There remain a record number of buyers ready to pounce on inventory the moment it becomes available. Homes that have trickled on the market to start the new year have been snapped up with gusto. Unusual for this time of the year as folks are typically still finding their flow after the holidays. Until we have enough inventory to dilute this large pool we are likely in for stout competition with prices being pushed higher. But alas, macroeconomic fissures are beginning to appear, which may eventually ease the demand (though I would not bet on it). The Fed has signaled that it will be inclined to raise interest rates this year, to stem inflation, and that has mortgage rates on the rise. The other macro factors I am looking out for are geopolitical, and also the mid-term elections in November. My prediction is that we set records in the Spring and experience some tapering off in the Fall.
 
While we wait for the proverbial skies to clear, I have made a recent commitment to focus on simplification. There is constant external stimulation/information buzzing around us these days that it can be easy to be distracted from your core strengths. Staying within the confines of your authentic self while still being ambitious takes thoughtful awareness, and it is essential if you want sustainable success. I am striving to find that perfect balance.
 
I genuinely love my work. The areas of this business that truly excite me revolve around performance and satisfying the people that entrust me to represent them. I get an actual rush from strong communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and tending to details. It is me at my core, and it is what I want to be doing. While I enjoy the creative aspects of brand building, I find it far less inspiring than executing on your behalf.
